Best Website Builder for Realtors (2026): IDX Sites Compared

We compare IDX Broker, IXACT Contact and Squarespace for real estate agents: MLS listing search, lead capture, design control and real monthly cost.

A realtor’s website has two jobs, and most website builders only do one of them. It has to look professional enough that a seller trusts you with a listing, and it has to turn buyers who search for homes into leads you can follow up. The second job needs IDX, a live feed of MLS listings, and a way to capture contact details and send new leads straight to your CRM.

We compared three routes to a real estate website with published prices: a dedicated IDX platform, a CRM that includes a website, and a general website builder you pair with IDX.

How we chose

A real estate agent’s website needs to:

  • Show MLS listings through IDX, or connect cleanly to an IDX provider.
  • Capture leads with registration prompts, home valuation and showing request forms.
  • Send those leads to your CRM, so follow-up starts automatically.
  • Look professional on a phone, since most home searches happen on mobile.
  • Have a predictable cost, including setup and MLS fees.

We read each vendor’s pricing page and plan FAQs. Read more about how we review.

The best website builders for realtors

★ Best for IDX and buyer leads

IDX Broker

Best for agents who want buyer leads from home search on their own site

From $60/mo; site $149/moVisit IDX Broker

What we like

  • Elite plan includes a hosted, professionally designed real estate website
  • Lead capture with registration prompts and instant SMS and email alerts
  • Behavior-based email automation and saved searches for leads
  • Month to month, no annual contract or cancellation fee

Watch out for

  • One-time setup fee on every plan, not published
  • Your MLS may charge separate data fees
  • Sold data depends on your MLS; not available in Canada
Core (IDX for an existing site)
$60/mo
Engage
$99/mo
Elite (hosted website)
$149/mo

Quote only

IDX Broker’s plans cover both routes to a real estate site. Core adds MLS search, map search and lead capture to a website you already have. Elite is a complete, hosted real estate website with custom branding, video and SEO features, with IDX search built in.

Its lead tools are the reason to choose it. Visitors who register get a My Listings Manager dashboard to save searches and listings, you get an instant text and email when a new lead registers, and automated emails follow up based on what each lead searched and viewed. IXACT Contact’s CRM can be added to any plan for $50 a month.

Which plan to pick: Core at $60 a month if you already have a website you like. Engage at $99 adds market reports, sold listing data and AI search features. Elite at $149 if you want the whole website handled.

Watch out for: the total cost. Every plan has a one-time setup fee that IDX Broker quotes rather than publishes, some MLSs add data fees, and team or office accounts cost more. Ask for an all-in quote for your MLS.

What we like

  • Mobile-friendly agent website included with the CRM
  • 16 professionally written web pages plus a biweekly blog
  • Website leads go straight into the CRM
  • No contract; cancel anytime

Watch out for

  • IDX listings are an optional add-on with a one-time setup fee
  • Theme-based design, with less freedom than a general website builder
  • Domain registration is an optional extra

IXACT Contact is primarily a real estate CRM, but its subscription includes an agent website that many solo agents will find is enough. The site is responsive, comes with customizable themes, a mobile-optimized image library and 16 pages of professionally written content, and adds a biweekly blog so your site stays current without you writing it.

Because the website and CRM are the same system, anyone who fills in a form on your site lands in your database and can drop into a drip campaign. It pairs naturally with IXACT’s done-for-you monthly e-newsletter, which we cover in our real estate CRM guide.

Which plan to pick: the annual plan at $46.75 a month. Add IDX only if you want live listing search on the site.

Watch out for: design freedom. You work within IXACT’s themes. If a distinctive brand matters to you, a general builder such as Squarespace gives you more control.

  • 24/7 customer support and hosting on every plan
  • Free custom domain for the first year on annual plans

Squarespace is the right choice when the website’s main job is to sell you: your story, your listings as a portfolio, testimonials and a clean contact form. Its templates look better out of the box than most real estate platforms, and its forms and newsletter blocks capture contact details into its built-in Contacts panel.

What it does not have is real estate data. To add live MLS search, you need an IDX provider and, usually, code or embed blocks.

Which plan to pick: Core at $23 a month (billed annually), since you will likely need code injection or advanced code blocks for IDX or a CRM form, and Core adds conversion insights and a year of Google Workspace email.

Watch out for: IDX compatibility. Before you build, confirm your IDX provider supports Squarespace and what the embedded search looks like on a phone.

Which one should you choose?

  • You want buyer leads from home search on your own site: IDX Broker, on Elite if you need the whole site.
  • You want a good-enough website and a CRM for one low price: IXACT Contact.
  • Your brand and design matter most, and listings are a portfolio: Squarespace, adding IDX if you need it.

Whichever you choose, register your domain in your own name, connect your website’s forms to your CRM on day one, and test the lead flow by submitting a form yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What is IDX and does a realtor website need it?

IDX (Internet Data Exchange) lets your website display live MLS listings so visitors can search homes on your site instead of on a portal. It matters most if you want buyer leads from your website. Access depends on your MLS, and some MLSs charge their own data fees on top of the software.

Can I use Squarespace or Wix for a real estate website?

Yes, for a brand and bio site, and they give you more design control than most real estate platforms. They do not come with MLS search, so you add IDX through a third-party service. Squarespace allows custom code and code injection from its Core plan, which is where most embeds go; confirm the IDX provider supports your builder before you buy.

How much does a real estate website cost?

Expect about $16 to $150 a month. Squarespace starts at $16 a month billed annually without IDX. IXACT Contact includes an agent website with its $46.75-a-month CRM, with IDX as a paid add-on. IDX Broker Elite, a hosted real estate website with IDX search, starts at $149 a month plus a one-time setup fee.

Do I own my real estate website?

You own your content and your domain if it is registered in your name, but hosted platforms keep the site design and technology. If you switch providers, plan to rebuild the site and keep the same domain so you do not lose search traffic.
