Best Nonprofit CRM Software (2026): Donor Management Compared

We compare Little Green Light, Bloomerang, Neon CRM, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and HubSpot on donor management, pricing model and fit for small nonprofits.

A nonprofit CRM has a narrower job than a sales CRM, and a harder one. It has to remember every supporter and every gift, make sure each donor is thanked properly, and show you who is about to lapse before they do. The right system turns that into a routine. The wrong one leaves your development team maintaining spreadsheets on the side.

We compared five widely used options on the jobs a small development team actually does, and on the pricing model, which matters more than the headline price.

How we chose

We started from the jobs a small or mid-sized nonprofit needs its CRM to do:

  • Keep one clean record per supporter, with every gift, pledge and interaction attached.
  • Record and acknowledge gifts, including receipts and year-end giving summaries.
  • Segment and re-engage donors, especially first-time donors who have not given again.
  • Collect donations online without re-keying them.
  • Stay affordable as the database grows and more staff, volunteers and board members need access.

We then checked each vendor’s current pricing page. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so rather than guess. Read more about how we review.

★ Best value for small nonprofits

Little Green Light

Best for small nonprofits that want every feature at a predictable price

What we like

  • One plan with every feature; price depends only on constituent count
  • Unlimited users at no extra cost
  • No setup fees, cancellation fees or contracts
  • First 30 days free, no credit card required

Watch out for

  • Email support only, weekdays 9am to 7pm Eastern (plus twice-weekly live Q&A webinars)
  • Fewer built-in fundraising tools than all-in-one platforms
  • Online donations carry processor fees from 2.2% + $0.30

Up to 50,000 records

Little Green Light is the easiest recommendation for a small nonprofit because its pricing removes almost every decision. There is a single plan, every account gets every feature, and the only thing that changes the price is how many constituent records you store. Adding a new staff member, a volunteer coordinator or the whole board costs nothing.

It covers the core donor management jobs well: gift entry, acknowledgments, reporting and online donation forms that feed straight into the database. LGL itself charges nothing extra for forms; you pay the payment processor’s fee on each gift.

Watch out for: support is by email and live webinars rather than phone. If you run peer-to-peer campaigns, auctions or text-to-give, check that LGL covers them before you commit, or plan to connect a dedicated fundraising tool.

Best for donor retention

Bloomerang

Best for growing nonprofits focused on keeping donors giving year after year

Quote, billed annuallyVisit Bloomerang

What we like

  • Unlimited users with customizable permissions
  • Automated supporter journeys and donor retention insights
  • Nightly data upkeep, including address updates and duplicate detection
  • Grant tracking and membership management in the CRM

Watch out for

  • No public price; you need a demo to get a quote
  • Billed annually
  • Fundraising tools must be bought as a bundle with the CRM

Bloomerang is built around one idea: it is cheaper to keep a donor than to find a new one. The CRM surfaces who is likely to lapse, automates thank-you and re-engagement journeys, and keeps the database clean with nightly updates such as address changes and duplicate matching. For a development team that spends too much time on data hygiene, that last point alone is valuable.

Bloomerang also sells fundraising (donation forms, events, auctions, peer-to-peer, text giving) and volunteer management modules, which connect to the CRM. Fundraising can only be bought together with the CRM.

Watch out for: Bloomerang does not publish prices. Its pricing page describes a predictable, constituent-based model with unlimited users, but you will need a demo to get a number, and plans are billed annually.

#3
Best all-in-one

Neon CRM

Best for nonprofits that want CRM, forms, email and texting in one system

What we like

  • Priced by revenue, not by record count, so growing your list does not raise the price
  • Email marketing, text messaging and a donor portal included
  • Grant management and automated workflows
  • Free live chat, email and phone support

Watch out for

  • Starts at a higher price than Little Green Light
  • Price rises as your organization's revenue grows
  • Websites and peer-to-peer fundraising are separate products

Neon CRM’s selling point is breadth. Donor management, supporter profiles, campaigns and forms, recurring gifts, payment processing, email marketing and text messaging all live in one system, which means fewer integrations to maintain and one place to look for a supporter’s full history.

Its pricing model is unusual: Neon charges based on your organization’s revenue rather than the number of records. That rewards list growth, since adding thousands of new contacts does not change your bill, but it also means your CRM cost rises as your budget does.

New nonprofits: Neon also offers Neon Launch at $49 per month plus transaction fees, which bundles a website, fundraising tools and setup help for organizations just getting started.

Best free licenses

Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud

Best for larger nonprofits with a technical staff member or consultant

What we like

  • 10 free Nonprofit Cloud Core licenses for eligible nonprofits (Power of Us program)
  • Nonprofit data model with fundraising, program management and volunteer tools
  • Almost unlimited customization and a huge partner ecosystem
  • 30-day free trial, no credit card

Watch out for

  • Additional licenses start at $70 per user per month, billed annually
  • Annual contract required for paid editions
  • Setup and customization usually need a consultant

$70/user/mo
Advanced
$125/user/mo
Max editions
$285/user/mo

10 (eligible nonprofits)

Salesforce’s offer to nonprofits is hard to ignore: through the Power of Us program, eligible organizations get 10 Nonprofit Cloud Core licenses at no cost. Nonprofit Cloud adds a nonprofit data model on top of Salesforce’s CRM, with fundraising, program management and outcomes, and volunteer management.

The catch is that free software is not free to run. Salesforce is a platform more than a finished product, and most nonprofits need a consultant or a technically minded staff member to configure it well. Beyond the free licenses, paid seats start at $70 per user per month on an annual contract.

Choose it if you have the in-house skills or budget for setup, need deep customization, or run programs that go well beyond fundraising.

Best for marketing-led nonprofits

HubSpot

Best for nonprofits whose growth depends on email, content and their website

40% off Pro plansVisit HubSpot

What we like

  • 40% off Professional and Enterprise products for eligible nonprofits
  • Email, social, landing pages, website and CRM on one platform
  • Integrates with donation platforms like Donorbox and Fundraise Up
  • Objects can be renamed, so Deals become Donations

Watch out for

  • Not built for donor management; donations need configuration or integrations
  • Discount only for new customers in North America, Australia and New Zealand
  • Discount requires an annual contract and excludes Starter plans

HubSpot is a marketing and CRM platform first, and it shines for nonprofits that grow through campaigns: newsletters, landing pages, social media and an SEO-friendly website, all tied to the same supporter records. Its nonprofit program takes 40% off Professional and Enterprise products for eligible new customers.

HubSpot can manage donations, pledges and recurring giving, but it takes configuration. Most nonprofits pair it with a dedicated donation platform such as Donorbox or Fundraise Up that syncs gifts into contact records.

Watch out for: eligibility. The discount is limited to new customers registered as nonprofits in North America, Australia or New Zealand, on an annual contract, and it does not apply to Starter plans.

Which one should you choose?

  • Small nonprofit, tight budget, many people who need access: Little Green Light.
  • Donor retention is your biggest problem: get a quote from Bloomerang.
  • You want one system for CRM, forms, email and texting: Neon CRM.
  • You have technical help and want free licenses: Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.
  • Your growth depends on marketing and your website: HubSpot with a donation platform.

Pricing changes often, and several of these vendors quote on request. Confirm the current price with the vendor before you commit, and ask about nonprofit discounts.

Next step: once you have picked a CRM, make sure your books can handle restricted funds. See our guide to the best accounting software for nonprofits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a nonprofit CRM and donor management software?

In practice they are the same category. A nonprofit CRM, also called donor management software, stores every supporter, their gifts and your interactions with them, then helps you thank, segment and re-engage them. Business CRMs like HubSpot and Salesforce can do this too, but need more setup to model donations, pledges and tributes.

Is there a free CRM for nonprofits?

Salesforce gives eligible nonprofits 10 Nonprofit Cloud Core licenses at no cost through its Power of Us program, though setup usually needs a consultant or a technical staff member. Little Green Light and Salesforce both offer a 30-day free trial with no credit card.

How are nonprofit CRMs priced?

Three common models: by number of constituent records (Little Green Light, Bloomerang), by your organization's revenue (Neon CRM) or per user (Salesforce, HubSpot). Record-based and revenue-based pricing usually include unlimited users, which suits small teams with many volunteers or board members.

Which nonprofit CRM is best for a very small organization?

Little Green Light. It starts at $45 per month for up to 2,500 constituents, includes every feature and unlimited users, and has no contract or setup fee.
